Tahsin I. Alam is the Associate Vice President for Talent Management and Organizational Development at the Rutgers University Foundation. He serves as a member of the Foundation President’s Executive Leadership Group.
A higher education search industry veteran with nearly two decades of experience in Presidential and Advancement professional searches, Tahsin began his career as an Associate with Isaacson Miller, a Boston-based national search firm. After his tenure working with the advancement practice, Tahsin went on to become a Managing Associate with the Nonprofit Professional Advisory Group (NPAG), a boutique national search firm with clients across the nonprofit sector. Here he served as a partner for the development and communications search practice, where in four years, the practice grew from inception to one of the most profitable practices at the firm. Tahsin has also conducted Presidential, Dean of Faculty and Dean of Student level searches.
At the Rutgers University Foundation, Tahsin leads a 10-person team responsible for the recruitment, on-boarding, performance appraisal, professional development and retention of professional fundraisers, alumni relations professionals and associated staff. In addition to managing the Foundation’s organizational change and management needs, Tahsin also consults for a diverse portfolio of higher education institutions across the country. Focus areas include talent management, employee and team audits, recruitment and retention programs, professional development curricula and more.
Tahsin holds a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Politics, Economics and Theater from Bates College. He is a native of Bangladesh and has also lived in Europe and the Middle East.
